Triple Petal

To begin our explorations with origami, we developed a system of variables in Grasshopper to develop iterations. Each petal is based on a fundamental region comprised of 5 different variables, then rotated using a polar array to generate the triple petal shape.

2-Variable Matrix

A series of matrices explore the possibilities of manipulating 2 variables at a time.

3-Variable Matrix

The three-dimensional matrix manipulates 3 variables by increasing the number of petals.

Assemblages

After this, we picked an iteration to begin physically testing, combining individual units to create tetrahedral and other structures.

Connections

In order to connect multiple triple petals together, we developed connections and tested them physically.
